Privacy Policy
Last Updated: December 2, 2025
Introduction
Your privacy is not just important to us—it is the core feature of LocalEcho. We built this application with a "Local First" philosophy to ensure that your conversations, voice data, and personal thoughts remain strictly on your device.
We do not collect, store, share, or sell your personal data. We do not have servers to receive it, even if we wanted to.
1. Data Collection & Storage
LocalEcho operates 100% offline.
- Voice Data: When you speak to the app, your audio is processed in real-time using your device's internal hardware (Neural Engine). We explicitly configure the speech recognition system to run on-device only. No audio files are ever uploaded to the cloud or sent to Apple's servers for processing.
- Chat History: Your conversation history is stored locally in your device's memory. This data persists only on your device and is removed immediately if you use the in-app "Reset" feature or delete the app.
- AI Processing: The Large Language Model (LLM) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine run entirely on your device. Your prompts are not sent to Meta, OpenAI, or any third-party API.
2. Third-Party Services
Because LocalEcho runs offline, we do not integrate with third-party analytics services (like Google Analytics or Firebase) that track your usage.
- Apple iOS: The app runs on Apple's operating system. Apple may collect standard, anonymized telemetry (such as crash reports or installation counts) depending on your device's global privacy settings, but this is not controlled by LocalEcho.
3. Permissions
To function, LocalEcho requires the following permissions:
- Microphone: To hear your voice commands. Audio is processed ephemerally and not saved to files.
- Speech Recognition: To convert your voice into text. This is strictly limited to on-device processing.
4. Children’s Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because our app does not collect any data, it is inherently safe regarding data collection practices for minors.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Since the app is offline, any significant changes to how the app functions would require an app update via the App Store. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
